How to find a job without experience
Not so bad
It seems that people who have just left the walls of the university will have a long and difficult search for their first job. In fact, the chances of successful employment without work experience are much greater than it seems. The well-known portal Superjob.ru conducted a study, the results of which were the following data: 66% of medium-sized companies and 85% of large companies are ready to hire a specialist without experience. They are quite loyal to successful graduates, however, they go through a more thorough and lengthy selection process than people with serious work experience.
If you analyze the pages of the most popular HR portals and job search sites, it becomes clear: every year there are more and more vacancies marked “you can have no work experience.” Many employers are ready to educate a university graduate who has received excellent basic knowledge and turn him into a real specialist.
Despite all this, the number of graduates who literally do not know what to do next and how to look for the desired job does not become smaller. We have prepared several important recommendations that will help to put all the points on the “i” in the issue of employment without work experience.
7 tips for finding your first job
Start as early as possible
As practice shows, the vast majority of students begin to work before graduation. Most often this is, of course, a part-time job, but it often happens that in the last courses students already have a full-time job. And then, after receiving the long-awaited diploma, these people often remain in their place of work, if not, then when searching for another job, some experience already exists. Hence the conclusion: you need to think about your career before getting a diploma. Students can be taken as assistants to a specialist, for “errand” work or for some very simple tasks that the specialist cannot do. If such work is related to your specialty, or if you simply feel that this experience will help you in your future career, be sure to agree to such offers or look for them yourself. It is important to maintain an optimal balance of “study – work”. Work should not interfere with study, otherwise then the whole meaning of learning is lost.
Well, if you have already missed this moment and have not begun to worry about your career while still studying at the university, then you have no choice but to maximally effectively implement all the other tips.
Attend trainings and courses
Now you can find trainings and courses in almost any specialty. If you successfully pass several of them, this will give you an advantage over other job applicants who also do not have experience like you. Successful completion of courses or participation in training usually ends with the issuance of certificates or certificates from the company that organized them. Attach them to your resume, and you will already look a little more presentable in the eyes of the employer. In addition, attending training courses is a real opportunity to improve your professional skills and expand theoretical knowledge to practical ones.
Make a good resume
We will not refute the fact that the line “work experience” is one of the most important in the resume. And employers pay attention to it first of all. However, if there is no work experience yet, you can leave at the expense of other advantages. In the resume, indicate the maximum of your achievements and skills, which, in your opinion, may affect the decision of the employer. In addition to the obligatory paragraphs in the resume (personal information, education, etc.), fill in such lines as:
personal qualities: sociability, determination, focus on results, activity, etc .;
your skills: knowledge of computer programs that are used in your field of activity, knowledge of any technologies or techniques, etc .;
knowledge of foreign languages: indicate the level of proficiency;
availability of certificates, special diplomas, etc.
If the topic of your thesis is directly related to the content of the work for which you are applying, then indicate it. The same applies to the practice site. Indicate where you did your internship, what exactly you did there and what you learned.
Post your resume on as many job search portals as possible. Send it to specific companies that you consider to be a great career start. After submitting a resume, do not wait until you call back. If after 3-4 days you have not been called back, call yourself. Ask if your hiring manager has already reviewed your resume. You will either be invited for an interview, or they will immediately say that the company was not interested in your candidacy. In the second case, politely ask about the reasons for the refusal. To persuade the manager to interview you, in most cases, will be inappropriate, so just listen to the reasons for the refusal and thank you for your time. You can use the information received in the future so as not to repeat such errors already.
