The head of the transport company Gentle Giant, Larry O’Tool, uses a special method for checking the endurance of new employees, and even participates in it. Newcomers to the company, led by their boss, organize races in the stands of the Harvard Stadium. By his example, 59-year-old Larry O’Tool shows young employees that maintaining good physical condition only has a beneficial effect on mental performance.
For the Gentle Giant, such races have already become an ordinary procedure, through which all new employees must pass. Endurance testing is done by interns in the first two weeks of work, not later. Employees who have been working for a long time in the company are also not forbidden to participate in the marathon – about 25% of the regular staff regularly run in the stands with the rest.
